Spring in Chicago is full of fleeting beauty, and nothing says “springtime magic” quite like the cherry blossoms in bloom around the Museum of Science and Industry. We recently hosted a model call to capture that beauty at sunrise—and Mary Rose absolutely brought it.
It was one of those crisp spring mornings where you can still see your breath, and the chill in the air made us all huddle a little tighter between shots. But despite the chill, the light was perfect. As the sun crept over the horizon, it lit up the cherry blossoms with the softest golden glow, making the whole scene feel like something out of a dream.
Mary Rose was a vision in front of the pink blossoms. She radiated calm and confidence, and the early morning quiet gave us space to get creative and really soak in the moment. From wide shots under the canopy of trees to close-ups where you could see every petal and every expression—this session was a celebration of soft light, natural beauty, and the joy of photographing someone who’s fully in the moment.
Shooting at sunrise has its challenges (hello, 5 a.m. wake-up call and a few shivers!), but it’s always worth it. The peaceful energy, the way the light plays on the petals, and the calm before the city wakes up—it all creates an atmosphere that’s impossible to replicate.
Mary Rose, thank you for stepping in front of the camera and braving the chill with a smile. You were stunning, and this session was such a lovely way to kick off spring.
Interested in future model calls or cherry blossom sessions next spring? Let’s connect—these blooms wait for no one, but the memories last a lifetime.
