There’s nothing I love more than walking into a home and feeling the love that surrounds a brand new baby. This in-home newborn session in Lake County, IL was extra special because I had photographed this family’s maternity session back in July. It was such a joy to come back a few weeks later, step into their home, and finally meet their sweet little one.
What made this session even more heart-melting? Their dog. She truly stole my heart the moment I walked in. This pup had instantly taken on the role of “dog mom,” keeping close watch over the baby and giving the gentlest snuggles. It was the sweetest thing like she already knew this tiny human was hers to protect and love.
As a Lake County newborn photographer, I love offering in-home sessions because they allow families to relax in their own space. There’s no rushing, no packing bags, and no stress, just real moments together. We captured cozy snuggles on the couch, baby stretches in the nursery, and of course plenty of shots with the family’s first “baby,” their loyal pup.
I love that this family will be able to look back at these photos and remember not just how little their baby was, but also how their dog was right there from the very beginning. These are the moments that tell the whole story.
