One of my favorite things about photography is capturing connections and this session was extra special because it was with my daughter and her best friend, both cheerleaders at Grayslake Central High School.
Cheer is such a huge part of their high school experience. From Friday night lights to competitions, these two have shared countless memories, laughs, and late-night practices. Their bond is something I wanted to capture in a way they’ll treasure long after their high school days.
For this photoshoot, we leaned into school spirit pom-poms, cheer uniforms, and all the Grayslake Central pride! The girls nailed their jumps and poses, but my favorite images were the candid ones. The giggles between routines, the inside jokes, the moments where their friendship shined brighter than any cheer stunt.
As a mom, it was so meaningful for me to photograph my own daughter in this season of her life. These years fly by, and I know one day she’ll look back on these photos and remember the excitement of being on the cheer team, the thrill of performing, and the joy of cheering right next to her best friend.
