One of the first questions seniors ask when planning their photo session is, “Where should we take my senior pictures?”

Living in Lake County means we’re lucky to have so many beautiful locations that make the perfect backdrop for senior portraits. Whether you're looking for nature, water views, or something a little more modern, there are plenty of great options.

Here are a few of my favorite locations for senior sessions.

🌿 Independence Grove Forest Preserve

This is one of my favorite spots for senior photos. Independence Grove offers a mix of scenic trails, tall grasses, wooden bridges, and beautiful lake views. It’s especially gorgeous during golden hour when the light reflects off the water.

🌅 Illinois Beach State Park

If you love beachy, relaxed vibes, this location is amazing. The sand dunes, Lake Michigan shoreline, and natural grasses create a really unique look that you can’t find anywhere else in Lake County.

🌳 Ryerson Woods Forest Preserve

For seniors who love nature and a peaceful setting, Ryerson Woods offers beautiful wooded trails, rustic paths, and soft natural backgrounds that work well for classic portraits.

🌸 Downtown Long Grove Historic District

If you want something a little different, the historic buildings, charming streets, and unique shops in Long Grove provide a fun and colorful backdrop for senior photos.

Making Your Senior Session Unique

The location you choose helps set the tone for your photos, but what really makes senior sessions special is incorporating your personality and interests. Whether that means bringing sports gear, musical instruments, or outfits that reflect your personal style, the goal is to create images that truly represent who you are during this exciting season of life.
