If you’ve noticed things have been a little quiet on my blog and social media the past couple of months, there’s a good reason for it. I intentionally stepped back from photography for a bit to spend more time with my family, and it ended up being exactly what I needed.
Winter is always a natural slower season for photography, so I made a point to be really intentional with my time at home. Evenings were spent cooking dinner, relaxing together, helping with homework, and finally catching up on all the little things around the house that tend to get pushed aside during busy seasons.
Both of my kids are heavily involved in sports, and these past couple of months were full of some pretty incredible moments for them. My daughter’s cheer team placed second in the state at the IHSA High School State Cheer Competition, and my son’s hockey team also placed second in state. As a mom, being able to fully show up for those moments and experience them together as a family meant everything. It was such a special season of life to be present for.
While I’ve been enjoying this time at home, spring is quickly approaching, and that means things are starting to get busy again behind the scenes. The Class of 2026 has already started booking their cap and gown sessions and senior sessions, and my April and May calendars are filling up quickly.
I’m really looking forward to getting back into the rhythm of sessions and seeing so many familiar faces again. In fact, I have a newborn session tomorrow night, which feels like the perfect way to ease back into things.
Thank you to all of my amazing clients for always supporting my business and allowing me the flexibility to prioritize my family when I need to. It truly means more than you know.
As we head into spring and warmer weather, I can’t wait to capture more memories for all of you.
If you’re part of the Class of 2026 or thinking about booking a spring session, now is a great time to reach out before the calendar fills up.
I’m excited to be back behind the camera again.
